"Optus advices that the number you have dialed has been disconnected... 02 LHN 29"

I'm trying to call someone and that is the prompt...does it mean he's out of coverage, the Optus service is down or his phone is switched off?

  1. I am receiving this at the moment, just after changing my telephone supplier from Optus over to Telstra.

If  I phone my house from a Telstra line, i.e. my Telstra mobile, or from work etc then I get through okay (presumably since it is on the same network)... however, if I try from my Virgin mobile I get the same disconnected message as you.

The helpful and knowledgeable (for a change) person at Optus reckoned it was a common gotcha when porting numbers over. The new carrier just needs to make a tweak to the setup of the number after the porting process was completed. Its quite common apparently.
