where having severe lighting and thunder and the lightning seems so very close it is actualy scaring me and making me wonder if me and my family is safe . What does it mean when it says thunder and vicinity but yet there is no rain

  1. In the vicinity means lightning has been observed over 5 miles away but less than 10 from the observation point (usually an airport).
