What does tounges out mean in hockey?

I hear sports announcers say "tounges out" when reffering to hockey player (ie. on ovechkin's incredible goal, the announcer says "his tounge's hangin' like michael jordan"

  3. it's when a player has the tounges of his skates fliped out over his shin pads instead if underneath them. I started doing this from a young age because my dad told me gretzky did it. very uncomfortable at first but you get used to it.

  4. skate tongues being out of the shin guards. usually when bent down/over is referred to as flop. its the most uncomfortable thing ever.

  5. The announcer is stating that the goal is hockey's equivalent of something that Jordan did on a basketball court.  Michael Jordan made many spectular plays with his tongue sticking out (literally).
