What does typing "..." mean in English?

For example if someone types, email, text, or post something and the next person responds to that by only typing "..." what would they mean by that?

  2. When I use it  I usally write it to say "im speechless" or to say "i really dont care".

  6. It means a pause, or a hesitation. When written just by itself, it usually means "Uh, okay..." or "I have no idea what to say to that."

  7. or a trailing thought, "I think we're going the beach ..."  Leaving it as an open ended question or statement for the other person.  

    talking to someone else:

    1: "so we're going golfing tomorrow eh"

    2: "well I'm going to the beach ..."

    1: "oh i guess we'll go golfing on Tuesday"

    etc...

    "are you kidding?"

    or if you say something stupid to them or confusing

So if you're quoting someone, and it's a long sentence and you want to leave part of it out, you use the 3 dots to indicate that. That's the official way. In email and other casual use it can represent a pause, or "I don't have anything to say right now," or almost any other absence of communication.

    lol, also, it sometimes bothers people, since it shows ignorance and impatience, but sometimes it's an OMG thing. haha (:
