I just got the lg dare on the new verizon nationwide select family share plan, and I really want to use mobile IM. I have unlimited texting and I know that mobile im uses out of network text messages so dont try to explain that to me, I already understand. But what I want to know is will the mobile im charge me at all for any data usage with megabytes? The new nationwide plans charges you $1.99 for each megabyte you use with Internet and stuff. But does using mobile im take up any megabytes at all? Even for downloading to use it for the first time? Anyone with experience or if you know anything tell me.

  1. if you don't have internet plan included in your family share plan, then yes, you'll be charge for every service on mobile IM and yes even for downloading it. unless if verizon tells you they'll download it for free.

  2. Mobile IM should already be downloaded into your "messaging" menu, so you don't have to download it from the Get it Now applications.  So you should have NO data charges by logging in, and all the IMs count as text message so you shouldn't have any charges at all if you have Unlimited Texting!  Have fun - that's a sweet phone!
