I have a lawn fertilizer that says after applying to "water in". Also it says in another part to "Water in heavily on your next scheduled watering day." What does this mean?

  1. they are saying to water it in because it will set the fertilizer into the grass so it doesnt blow away and so it gets to the roots faster. just set a sprinkler and water the lawn for about ten min. make sure the water isnt gushing either because it will just wash the fertilizer away

  2. I think what they are saying is after you put the lawn fertilizer to put the water in. At the beginning you have to heavily water new plants, especially if they are in the ground because the water does not stop filtering through like in potted plants, it keeps on draining down, hence, you have to heavily water your plants or seedlings until the roots take root and can survive with less water.

  3. after you add fertilizer to add water that is all that it means.

  4. Watering is needed after applying fertilizer because water begins the fertilizer release process. Water carries the nitrogen content of the fertilizer to the root zone.Watering in heavily means that you have to double the amount of water to neutralizes heat present in other elements of the fertilizer.

  5. run your irrigation system/sprinklers or your frickin' lawn will die!

  6. You need to water heavily, so the fertilizer will get down to the roots.

  7. Water the grass thoroughly, so the granules will become wet enough to dissolve.

  8. It means to water it well AFTER you apply it.  It needs to get into the soil to work well.  it's taken up by the roots.

(This is the opposite of fertilizer with broadleaf weed killer.  That stuff needs to have wet grass when you spread it, and then NO water after - because you want the granules to stick to the leaves of the weeds so they can be absorbed by the leaves, not the roots, so you don't want to wash it into the soil.)

  9. Just water it good.  Something you need to do to keep the yard from burning up.

  10. I believe it just means to water after you apply your ferilizer.  It says water in becuase you watering in the ferilizer.

  11. Water it upon application. A lot of people forget that and they end of burning and hurting their yards for a period of time. good luck
