the thing is that I dont consider dry cereal a breakfast meal.

If she wakes up at 8:00 she'll eat dry cereal at 10:30. Then she wont eat a meal again until 2:00. In between 8 10 and 2 she will have fruit, cheese stick or crackers. But do you guys consider 20 dry cherrios a breakfast? Is 2:00 considered her breakfast? She'll eat again around 7:30, so if 2:00 is breakfast she's only eating twice a day.

  1. Your question is confusing...so I'll just give you our schedule.

As far as I'm concerned cherrios are snack food.

And only 20...may not even qualify as a full snack...not for my son anyway...he's a BIG eater..he'd probably gobble 20 cherios in two bites...lol.

My son wakes up at 6:30, he eats oatmeal or fruit or yogurt for breakfast.

    We go to daycare

He has a morning snack at 8-8:15 (Milk & Dry Cereal)

He has lunch at 11:30 (Veggie & Sandwich & Milk)

    Naps From 12-2:30

Has a snack at 3 (Cheese, Crackers, Fruit & Milk)

Has another snack at 5 on the drive home (Dry cereal or a fruit snack)

Has dinner at 7 (Veggie Grain & Meat MIlk)

    Has milk at 8-8:30

    Bedtime.

  2. I don't know if this helps you or not, but here is my little girl's schedule.

She just turned 1 last week.

    8:00-wake up

8:15-breakfast: oatmeal, cereal with milk, fruit, muffins, cream of      wheat, eggs, pancakes, etc.  These are just some of the things she usually eats.   She also always has a sippy cup of milk with her breakfast.

    **playtime**

    9:30-Take a walk

10:00-snack: ham and cheese cubes, graham crackers, dry cereal like cheerios, goldfish crackers.  Again just some of the usuals.  I serve this with a cup of water.

    **playtime**

11:30-lunch: hot dogs, mac n cheese, green beans, carrots, fruits, applesauce, tuna sandwich, pb & j sandwich, chicken nuggets, baked french fries or tator tots, fruit cocktail. Just some of the norms.  I serve this with a watered down cup of juice.

    12:30 to 2:30-nap

2:30-snack again.  I serve this with a cup of milk.

    **playtime**

5:00-dinner: anything we eat.  I serve this with a waterd down cup of juice.

    **playtime**

7:30-bath, light snack with cup of milk, books

    8 to 8:30-bedtime

  3. I would say you need to give her some kind of cereal either dry or maybe some oatmeal at around 9:00 and then some fruit around 10:00. She needs to have lunch by at least 1:00. I would try and adjust your schedule and make sure she is having good meals and not just snacks. Good luck.

  4. My son is 16 months old, and when i give him dry cereal for breakfast (simply because thats all he will eat that particular day) I always pair it with a banana, but his favorite breakfast food is scrambled eggs. He too is a dainty eater and for the most part eats several small meals a day. I figure as long as the food he is eating is healthy there isn't much more i can do but feed him when he wants to eat. I offer him breakfast, lunch and dinner typically around the same time everyday, and he will eat what he wants, sometimes very little, which is why i offer small snacks throughout the day. Good luck, i know for me it gets a little frustrating because I worry he isn't getting enough nutrition.

  5. My pediatrician advised me when my son turned one that he would start to slow down on the amount of food he was eating and to only expect him to eat one good meal a day.  That said - it still doesn't feel right does it?

I think maybe you could try giving your daughter dry cheerios closer to her actual waking time.  If you could get her to eat them earlier like 9:00am, then maybe she would be ready for a pancake, waffle, egg, etc. around 11:30.  Then you could still feed her lunch at 2:00pm.  Try offering her fewer snacks between meals and limit the amount of fluid she has to drink prior to mealtime.

Just a few suggestions from a mother of 4 crazy boys...hope they help.  And don't worry, as long as she continues to grow at a steady rate, then she will be fine.   Good luck!
