I mean does or did it look like water? Was it completely clear or can it have a little bit of discharge mixed in? Did it smell even a little? I'm just wondering, I'm considering calling my doctor I am at work but everytime I stand up to get a drink or go to the bathroom or anything I have a ton of watery stuff come out on my pantyliner, I have already changed it 2 times this morning and have only been here an hour. But...it wasn't all watery it had a little bit of thicker stuff in it, not clumps though. And it had a little smell, can't really describe the smell it was different though. I just want to know what its supposed to look like. Thanks! Oh and I'm almost 38 weeks, went to the doctors Tuesday and wasnt dialated or effaced even a teensy bit.

  1. Oh wow, you may wanna call your dr and describe it. He will def wanna see you if theres any chance it could be your water. Your almost there so it COULD be. However, when MY water broke, it kinda trickled down my leg but it was a little warm and looked just like regular water, but man, there was TONS of it, it was like never ending lol I heard if you have any color to it, then something could be wrong and you need to get to a hospital. Good luck, looks like your almost there. =)

  2. You def. may want to call the doc. You could be leaking fluid. Or going into labor!! I also had no signs of effacing or dilation at 38 weeks. But at 38w5d, my water started to break when I rolled over in bed. I could def. feel it. It was warm and not gushing. I knew it when I felt it come out. people say it is like pee, but it isn't. It comes from somewhere else! It did not smell and was mainly clear in color. When you stand up or change positions and fluid comes out, your water may be broken! Good luck and call the doctor!!

  3. Well its supposed to be a clear liquid. that how mine always were. if there is color to it be sure to call the local hospital or your doctor..

  4. If your water had broken it would feel like you were peeing yourself whenever you got up.  Not just wetting a pantyliner, even if you have to change it every hour.

Vaginal discharge increases significantly during pregnancy.

  5. Your waters should be clear...like water! It could be mixed with some other discharge I suppose, like pink or reddish or brownish discharge that is part of your mucus plug.

If the water itself is greenish however, you NEED to go in right away because that is a sign of meconium (baby's first p**p) and it is dangerous for the baby in case he or she inhales it before or during birth.

And actually you should be calling anyways because they need to know your water broke. They may want to check to see if it was really your water or not, and no matter what they will want to ensure that you give birth within 24 hours or are at least monitored. This is to prevent infection and to make sure the fluid levels stay sufficient for the baby if he or she is not coming quickly enough.

Also if you are Group B Strep positive (they would have told you) then you need to get on IV antibiotics right away.

It does not matter that you weren't dilated or effaced...my water broke (it was an obvious gush though) on my due date. The day before I had been checked, and not had any dilated or effacement. Not one contraction. It was out of nowhere. But they still need to know about your water breaking.

    Good luck!

  6. I say call your doctor and discuss this with him/her.  When my water broke this past March it was only a little spot of water.  It wasn't discharge like, or even smelly.  It was kind of like I wet my pants, just a little.  Everyones water break experience is different.  Are you having contractions?  I had small contractions afterward, but nothing serious.  I called my doctor and they had me go in.  I drove myself and stopped to get gas.  When I got to the hospital they checked me and told me it didn't break.  WEll some hours later when the doctor tried to break my water he said that my water had already broke and that they had got it wrong when I arrived the night prior.  Lesson learned.  Any doubt call your doctor.  They will most likely have you come in to be checked out.  GOOD LUCK!!!!

  7. the 'water' looks straw like in colour and has no smell, and is pretty constant from the breaking unless baby comes down and plugs the gap then you may possibly be getting a gush everytime baby moves.

best way to tell if your water has broken is go to a mirror and check weather your bump is A) as high as it was before this happened and B) still looks rounded

as it tends to become more saggy and less tight

i suggest either way if your at all concerned contact your care provider because if your waters have broken you may need some anti-biotics to prevent infection or you could be in silent labour and you don't want to give birth in your office do you?

  8. it sounds to me as if your water is leaking out, call your dr asap. Goods luck

  9. It is possible to have a slow leak of fluid. (Baby's head can 'plug' the cervix so it doesn't gush.)  And if it mixes with your normal discharge, or part of the mucus plug there would be mucusy stuff in it.

There's no need to rush to the hospital, but if you're still leaking towards the end of the day, give the doctor a call to let him know. And, of course, if you start having regular contractions, you'd probably want to go home until it's time to head for the hospital.
