My son will be one on Aug 2. He has eight teeth. He loves his apple cinnamon oatmeal, yogart, veggies (loves green beans and sweet potatoes) rice, guacamole, tortillas, breads, of course his gold fish and cheerios. He still gets about 12 ounces of formula a day. Should I still be giving him the formula? He will drink it out of a sippy cup. I just want to make sure he is getting enough nutrition. When he actually turns one in two weeks should I switch to milk?

  1. My pediatrician had us switch to whole milk at 1 years of age.

He really sounds like a good eater and seems that you are giving him lots of variety. I would bet he is getting a well rounded diet and there will be no need for formula, but ask you pediatrician.

  2. my daughter is turning one august 2, hahaa!

i think you should change to milk when he turns one, thats my plan, my pediatrician told me to either start now or just wait two weeks, ill just wait until her birthday.

  3. My son will be 1 in a couple weeks and he eats whatever we eat except peanut butter, nuts and strawberries.  He's only getting about 6oz of formula a day and the rest milk.  In fact, often times after dinner he has eaten so much real food he isn't even interested in a bottle or sippy cup except for a few sips.  As long as he is eating healthy, a couple weeks isn't going to make a difference.  All I know is that once this can of formula is done I am not buying any more!!

  4. fourmula, and anything but junk it has to be healthy. i reccomend gerber

  5. they say to switch to whole milk at one year old, but  i have a 6 month old and a 16 month old, my older daughter loves formula and takes her bottle every chance she gets, but as for what she eats, she loves everything, try the mixed frozen veggies (broccoli, cauliflower) add a little butter, my daughter loves it, just keep trying new foods, it wont hurt him, i wouldn't give any thing like peppers (even sweet peppers, gave my daughter bad rash and diarrhea) or seafood because he may be allergic, alot of kids are allergic to peanut butter so be carful, good luck
