What does your tattoo mean?

Question

i'm just curious:

when did you get your first tattoo, do you regret it,did it hurt a lot?

what did you get and what meaning does it have to you?

i got my first tat a week ago. i am 24  i don't regret it. it felt like a cat scratch. I got my husbands name with a heart and a star on it. people thing i am crazy for getting it. he is having some serious health problem and that but everything into prospective for me. i love him dearly and wouldn't change it for the world.

Mine is in french and says "for what I am and for what I am able to become" - it means a lot to me because, although I am proud of who I am now, I know there is so much more I want (and can) achieve.

I had mine done in 50% black so it is not so harsh (I have really pale skin) It did hurt a bit but I only had it lined rather than the needle going over the same spot again. I'd describe it as a burning feeling. The tattooist was great though - he used the machine on my skin without any ink in so I could feel what it was like, he then asked if I would be able to cope with that pain for the whole tattoo. It really helped because if I felt I wouldn't have been able to cope I wouldn't have been left with a half done tattoo!

I got my tattoo after I quit drugs. It's just a butterfly. But it reminds me never to do drugs again.

I got it when I was 18. It took 2 hours and it hurt pretty bad.

well i got my first tattoo when i was 18

my nan had passed away

and she use to love roses there would be roses all in her house everywer

so i decided to get a rose on my belly

my other 1 is little stars going up my arms

my little brother died and he use to love stars aswell

so i had his name in the middle of my arm and then stars everywhere

i dont regret them at all because they mean something to me they didnt hurt that much it felt like a scratch

I was 16 when i got my first tattoo, its and eight point compass star coloured like a nautical star, half each point in a different colour, its blue and purple. i had it done the day before my grandads funeral, he was a sailor and my best friend as a child. i had it done on my wrist so i can always see it there.

I now have 11 tattoos, most resently the stars on my back!

I got my first when I was 18. I don't think that it hurt on the basis that I really wanted the tattoo.

I got a beautiful dragon on my hip. It didn't have special meaning to me at the time, however now it reflects where I was a that time in my life, and so the tattoo has grown to become incredibly special.

I have never regretted any of my 10 tattoos. I think that if you are the sort of person that regrets things they have done, then the pattern will probably continue with your tattoos.

I got my first tattoo when i was 18. Its a frankenstein skull with crossbones. It comes from an artist named coop who does alot of comic book type art. To me it reminds me of being inspired by the artist from a friend when i was in highschool and the summer I got it. It doesnt have a serious meaning to me but I got it because it was somthing i wanted at the time and i don't regret it.

OK well I got my first tattoo at age 22, and was very naive about the whole tattoo world, and what can be done etc...and I got a chinese symbol for Friend done on my back, I know it means friend as my family has close Chinese friends and one of them drew it for me, I have also since had the meaning confirmed by 2 other chinese people.  However, since then, Kanji has become so popular that I kind of went off my tattoo, I have now had it for 10 years and do not in any way regret getting it, I just wish I had known then what I know now about how wonderful tattoos can be.  I am having it covered over with a custom piece in a couple of weeks now, I have a wonderful artist that will do a perfect job.

i was 18 and my first tattoo was my last name. people are always like oh thats dumb and played out but i did it cus im proud of being my dads son. my other tattoo is a tribute to my great grandma who died on my 17 birthday and its praying hands with a rosary. those 2 are my 2 favorite ones because they have the most meaning to me i have a couple others but whatever
