  1. Acetone is hygroscopic: it loves water.  So adding it to gas will make it mix with the water.  Then you still have water, and now ACETONE to burn.  So its a bad deal.

Ethyl ether does the same thing, but it is more volatile, and won't eat up plastic.  But it burns better with water in it.

And neither will increase gas mileage.

On a per gallon basis, gas is cheaper all the way round.

  2. To add acetone you add very little.  I did it in my motorcycle and it did NOT increase the mileage.  Acetone is already in gas anyway.  You can try it, it will not hurt anything in small amounts (no more than 3 ounces per 10 gallons).  Do not use anything less than 100% acetone.

  3. I used only 1 oz. of acetone in a full time of gas.

My cars used to give me around 80 miles per 1/4 of tank, but so far it gave me around 100 miles per 1/4 of tank, My tank is almost empty and so far I have traveled 385 miles, and there is still some gas on my tank. Maybe for 3 more days.

I bet it will go over 400 miles if I try to use all the gas on my tank, but I doubt I'll do that.

Before I added the acetone to my car I have read numerous articles on what could happen if acetone is used as an fuel additive.

People have tested it that have proved that it won't damage your engine. You should only use an ounce or so. DO NOT add too much, since some people have reported that instead of increasing fuel economy it decreasesed it.

  4. Cleans the Pistons but Thins the Oil & Drys and Cracks "0" Rings

  5. Acetone dissolves plastic. You don't really want to be putting this stuff into your fuel system. In some cars there are plastic components in the fuel system.
