I am doing research for my project at school to find out about peoples views and comments on teenage magazines i.e. Bliss, Sugar, etc.

I mainly need problems with the usual magazines that teens may buy so I can create my own and improve it so people would buy it. This question is for anyone who thinks magazines need improvements of any age.

Thanks!

  1. sometimes it gives false hopes to those teens out there..

  2. very obssessive with looks etc. seem to be kinda shallow, always for stereotypical girls

  3. How they are very patronising and think they no everything about you and that every girl in the world is thinking about boys and make-up.

  4. When i pick up a copy of Teen Vogue, or Cosmogirl, the same type of girl is always on the cover. A young, skinny, beautiful, airbrushed model. Just looking at the cover makes me feel bad. Then I begin to read it. The pages are all full of makeup tips and clothing advice, all targeted to girls whose parents allow them to spend hundreds on clothes and makeup. Then there is the dating and love advice, all targeted to girls whose parents allow them to date at a young age, and do all of the stuff implied in the magazine, such as s*x. Yes, i agree that s*x should be a topic in magazines, because these magazines are teaching girls about the world around them, and how s*x is a part of it, but i think that they are showing s*x as being glamorous and amazingly s**y, and pretty much telling girls to rush into it. I saw an article in Cosmogirl not to long ago about the dangers of s*x. All of said dangers were having to do with "deteriorating relationships" and "feeling S****y" instead of the dangers of STD and pregnancy. It disturbs me how the managers and CEOs of such magazines can put content like this in it.

  5. Everyone in the teen magazine's is either skinny or beautiful or skinny and beautiful. Alot of teenager's don't fit that image yet and I think it's bad for there self esteem.

  6. I do agree on with Nomes, they can be rather materialistic, and narcissistic, also introduction of s*x, but then again they do teach of safe s*x and girls are more likely to ''listen'' to something they can relate to rather than a s*x ed, which doesn't really teach the values of emotions that come with, and in some cases preach about s*x underage, or even s*x before marriage.

So I'm split on this one lol

  7. They're quite shallow to be honest. There's pages and pages of celebrities and make up tips. I think they also pressure girls to get boyfriends and flirt a lot too.

What I hate is that they don't focus much on individuality.

  8. the price they can b 2 expensive

  9. they are teaching people to change so they can be liked

they dont say everyone has their own beauty

they think if you arent barbie doll thin and look plastic with makeup caked on you arent attractive

people should focus on the good things about people not the bad!!

  10. Well the real life stories can be scary and can affect sensitive people , sometimes they stop me buying the magazine.:) Hope Ive helped.
