At my school it is an extra block of time at the end of the day when the gifted kids to challenging activities and the kids needing help work with teachers.

It depends upon the definition your school uses. Sometimes "enrichment" is for gifted (smart) kids that they want to challenge, sometimes it's for students needing additional help. (Judging by the grammar and spelling, dare I suspect the latter?)

Enrichment is when you add an ingredient to something to make it work better or taste better or do something else better. To add riches.
