What dose the expression "glad to see you stand out and not up" ? mean?

i think it means that you should be yourself and not let others pressure you into doing what they want by doing what you want to do not what all the other people do

but i could be totally wrong so sorry if i am!

maybe it means that you're succeeding within a system that does not tolerate challenging authority. standing out means doing well and standing up means protest i guess

my guess would be that it means that they are glad that you are doing good but not showing it???
