i'm not certain whether or not it could happen within 50 years. but i am not certain it won't either.

it could happen that what likely happened to mayan cities, to the city of Angkor in cambodia, might happen to modern cities, they may need to be abandoned because of pollution. the necessities of life, gas, might go through the roof price wise.

people will essentially become more poor. this might cause an uprising, a revolution, since the wealthy will still be wealthy, less wealthy than before, but don't forget, some people basically have more money than they could spend in a lifetime, and will still own a high stake in companies.

i think right now the comfort of the middle class i think is what is preventing such a revolution.

what scares me is the united states has alot of money invested in warfare, if they get in financial trouble they might choose to exercise their investments. this could make the world fall into a large scale war. particularly that the states are getting better at making their wars cost less american lives, and are good at making attacking other people seem justified.

china will undoubtedly get much financially stronger as a whole. they may move to a more self sustained economy, supplying cheap labor to themselves rather than the rest of the western world, causing western countries to either find cheap labour somewhere else, or manufacture things themselves, either increasing the cost of production by alot, thus making  the average westerner poorer, or by exploiting some of their own people and have an even more segregated work force, a larger disparity between wealthy and poor, a smaller middle class, and again flirting with revolution.

but really anything could happen. this whole georgia/russia thing totally took me, personally, by surprise, now the states want to put missiles in poland, supposedly as preventative measures against iran. and russia said it will respond in a non-political manner, which could be very bad, and happen much sooner than 50 years from now.

9/11 took me by surprise too and that changed alot. so it's hard to say, but unfortunately, i don't think it will be that good, whatever it is. i feel like we are going downhill. and basically the question is, how low will we go.

...with price of oil at four figures a barrel, imagine the gas...population is outrageous, you rent a bed for six hours...the ocean is a cesspool, rats, roaches and spiders are premium delicacies...

I think that once we drain Earth from it's oil, we wont be able to get shipments and materials for reasturants and grocery stores, and we will all have to farm, thus starting a new Farming Age.

Whiny, skinny-to-the-bone rich teenage girls like on The Hills dominate the US and cause a downfall in learning, thus sending the US back into the Dark Ages. The rest of the world, meanwhile, moves on from this and learns more knowledge and solves world problems.
