  1. Don't have a picture but the tip is triangular shaped. Most hardware stores carry them.

  2. Black and Decker has various sizes of Glass and Tile bits. You can find them at many of your hardware stores. There is a picture of one at amazon.com.

  3. if you heat the bottle with a blow torch all over to warm it, and then really heat the place you want the hole, then pop it in microwave on high for a few minutes the bottle will melt a hole. stop microwave when hole big enough and leave in microwave for half an hour to cool down.

  4. You need a spear point bit, and a hand drill or cordless drill that goes really slow. put a ring of plasticine on the glass round where you intend to drill and fill it with paraffin or white spirit, this lubricates the drill bit to lower the vibration which is what will make the glass shatter.push the point of the bit onto the glass and turn the drill chuck by hand, you will feel it start to bite, once there is enough of a mark to keep the point of the bit from slipping about start the drill very slowly. keep going till you're through. job done.

Please don't listen to electrical engineer, he's obviously mad.

  5. Lots of water, take it slow.  If valuable bottle, practice on others.  If big hole, drill press and diamond edge core bit, lots of water.  Did I say lots of water?

  6. a bit with a carbide tip is sufficient to drill glass. many masonry bits incorporate this material. it depends on how large you want the hole to be; small for a stick and you might want to try a carbide Dremel bit, larger for a cone and get regular drill bit.

  7. if i were to attempt to drill glass i would try a diamond tipped bit (meaning the tip is coated with actual diamon fragments)..... interesting question, i wanna see how this one pans out ;o)

  8. electric pencil or what you call an etching pencil to etch your name on things

  9. I have etched glass with a dremel tool and a diamond bit.

Lowe's and Wal-Mart both sell  a Dremel tool & the bits.

  10. Hello Xavia,

Here's a link, but I don't know if the bottle will be strong enough.  Fill the bottle up past the point of the hole with water to keep things cool.  Remember the water will come out when the hole is made.  ;)

  11. Diamond coated.  Available at Home Depot, Lowes, or other tool stores.  They will be with  the drill bits in the tool section of the store.
