  1. Hey there,

I think the best thing is to just give them lots of time to practice their serving, Ideally, there should be some time set aside during every practice to work on serving. The more work that needs to be done - the more time you should spend on it during practice.

One thing that you should work on is consistancy. Divide the court up into 6 sections, and have your team work on aiming for a particular area. If your players are able to target particular sections of the court, come game time, you can target the weakest player on the other team and serve it at them.

You can also put things like chair, or ball baskets on the court for players to aim at while they are serving - obviously, that's a bit more difficult than just aiming for a section of the court.

You'll obviously want to make sure that the players are using the correct mechanics while they are serving - so that they serving correctly. You can also encourage them to do some strength training (depending upon their age) to improve their arm and upper body strength - which should help them with their serving as well.

I've put some links below - good luck to you.

  2. our team does this drill where you get four or five people in a group and they must get ten serves in a row as a group before they can stop. it takes time. but it has definately helped the team

  3. have someone hold the ball and the spot where you would serve and practice your walk and hit over and over!  Throwing the ball up and just actting like you would hit it works too!  Practice hitting it against the hall!  But the one think that helped me the most was to do my walk and than hit (serve) without the ball over and over and over and over!!!!

  4. my coach always use a soccer ball to make our serve more powerfull, but your hand will swollen like h**l, but youre serving skills will increase.

  5. ok.......i play on my junior high team and i am a setter. I know a  game we play called:  Dead Fish     that helps us serve accurately and help us improve while having fun. Here's how it works:

                                             Dead Fish:

alrighty...you divide your team in half and send them to one side of the court (one team per side). next, you send one person from each team on the opposite side of the court.

    ***********o**********o ** **********l               x               x

                                                           l

                     x    o               o             l               x               x      o

                                                           l

                          o                o             l             x                x

those people are the first servers.  Now you tell the teams  to pick a spot on their side of the court and lay down...its wise to spread out...ok then after every ones laying down, the server is supposed to serve over the net and hit one of the players who are laying down...the players who are laying down are the so-called  "dead fish"...they cannot move from where they are laying.theyre only allowed to move their arms and legs as a bigger target for the server to hit them...whenever the server hits a "dead fish" then the person who was hit joins the first server on the other side of the net and picks up a ball and starts serving...if a server misses a serve..it goes out, hits the net or ceiling...then that person goes over to the other side of the net where the rest of their team is laying as dead fish......the team who gets all of their fish alive...theyre all up on the other side...than that team has won the game. I think its a great game that helps us serve to targets and its really fun......

             hope i helped..............................

    god is love

  6. put everybody in a line and if you serve the ball over you go to the end of the line and if you dont everyone has to run a lap OR divide up into two teams and have a contest if you get the ball over you go sit dow but if you dont you have to keep trying till you get it over and  the team who loses has to run a michicgan we do half court but it doesnt matter

  7. We split up in two teams and hit it over the net one at a time and if you miss it you had to do 10 - 25 push ups. It shows them disipline and it gives them strength.

  8. if they can't overhand than they should just underhand, serving is the most important thing and if you can't serve overhand you lost.

  9. My coach always marks a spot on the court and has us serve to the spot...it improves your skill of actually getting the ball over and the accuracy of your serve!!!

  10. I can give you a couple of drills:

What our coach made us do is we all got a ball and one at a time we had to serve it. If we missed it it was 10 push ups 10 sit ups and 10 wall touches(we got by a wall and we had to jump up) and we had to get ten in a row without having it be short or out or crossing the line.

    This one is pretty fun

we divided up into teams and one person had to serve and we would all have to sit and the server had to try to serve it to somebody and they had to catch it without moving at all. and whoever caught it got to help the server get everybody else. The first team with all the players won.

    Hope this helps

    Good luck

  11. Ok, first of all, making your team do push-ups and run if they don't get their serves over isn't going to help if your team doesn't know how to serve in the first place.

Have your coach show the girls how to serve. Then have everyone partner up. One person stand on one side of the net, the other person on the other side of the net. They should both be about 5 steps away from the net.

Have them serve to each other. Once they can both get the serves to each other from that spot, have them move back a few steps. Repeat drill until everyone is all the way back to the serving line.

It may take some time, but it works. And it also teaches control and patience.

Also, before they start, have them throw the ball up like they are going to serve and let it drop in front of them. If you don't have a good throw, you won't have a good serve.

    Hope that helps.
