I am driving the ball a little over 200 yards with my old Nike clone driver with regular flex and 12 degree loft. I do have tendency to slice the ball and purchased the new TaylorMade Burner Draw driver and I must say I hate it. I still want a new driver that has forgiveness and accuracy.

  1. Definitely one of the new Nike Sasquatch's.

  2. The new Nike Sasquatch is a very good driver, very long and controllable

  3. Find a used Callaway FTi.  The straightest driver ever made!

  4. First of all slow your speed down by about 10mph.

Second for a high handicapper quality of equipment is not really noticeable until you  lower your  handicap dont pay too much you can hardly tell the difference between a £50 ($100)

    driver and a £300 ($600) driver

  5. Test them out in the Golfsmith before you purchase anything else.  The launch monitor is an expensive toy but free at the shop to see what club works better.

  6. It's not your clubs, it is your fundamentals.  Start there, get them worked out, and then see a pro for club selection and advice.

  7. Don't make a mistake and just buy another driver on recommendations. You'll be throwing good money after bad. Go to a pro shop and get fitted. They'll have you try out many different brands, models, shafts, lofts, etc. With a launch monitor and watching the ball flight, they'll be able to tell you which driver will be the best for you. You'll probably have to pay for this service -- $50 or so.

Then go on EBay and find the model, etc. they recommended. I actually use http://www.stealgolf.com to find golf stuff on EBay because it takes the Ebay listings and breaks them down into club type, brand, etc. so that I find what I'm looking for more readily.

  8. IMO...

  9. Do not buy a draw-biased driver!!!  A draw-biased driver has the club head a few degrees closed at address, this will only start the ball further left and not correct the actual problem. Although the golf companies won't tell you, almost all of the "new" drivers have the same technology.  For a part of 2006, Tiger Woods used the same driver as in 2000.  I suggest investing some money in instruction, not clubs.

  10. Take the Burner to you local shop, trade it in, use the money to get fitted, take your lesson from the school of hard knocks, and never just go out and buy another golf club ever again without getting fitted, which is the absolute best way to go.
