  1. greed and power

  2. Colonies provided a source of money, and riches. In Asia, for example, the British used India for its jewels and riches.

Colonies also provided trade. The Dutch used the West Indies to establish trading posts so they could trade everywhere.

In Africe, the Europeans were looking for slaves. But the main reason for imperialism is for the economic benefits. In those days, empires were to make as much money in less time without caring about the natives. Now empires are supposed to civilize the country, costing money.

The Africans and Asians didn't like it, but they had inferior technology. A war between the UK and Zanzibar lasted half a hour to 58 minutes. They couldn't rebel but had to fight for the conquering Europeans.

  3. They had superior technology and were greedy. They also wanted to gain an edge over other powers in Europe.

the people of Asia and Africa didn't like it obviously. they tried to rebel but failed.
