  1. opium....good stuff

  2. apart from the obvious poppy has been used to relax and smooth muscle tone, making it useful in the treatment of diarrhoea and abdominal cramping, and used as a sedative analgesic and antitussive.

  3. Opium is the drug extracted from Poppy fruits.

  4. Depends on the type of poppy.

  5. No drug is made from the seeds. Although it contains trace amounts of the opiates. But you can grow poppies and from the seed pods you can harvest a milky latex which is raw opium if dried.

Opium mainly contains morphine, together with codeine and some other alkaloids. The raw opium can be changed into a smokable, more pure, opium.

From the morphine you can make heroine by acetylation.

    So opium is not heroine.

It is the 3,6-diacetyl ester of morphine (hence diacetylmorphine). The white crystalline form is commonly the hydrochloride salt diacetylmorphine hydrochloride.

As with other opiates, heroin is used both as a pain-killer and a recreational drug.
