The only reason i want a dual sport bike is because some look like a dirtbike, but i hear that dual sports don't handle the best on roads or streets. im not going to be riding this on the dirt. I just want a bike that looks like a dirtbike, but is it possible to put other wheels on it to make it better for roads?

  2. u might be better off askin this Q in the motor sports section, that would make more sense to me

  3. Take a look at the Kawasaki KLR 650.

I have a 2003 that I have been riding this year for about 450 miles of commuting.

I added a Staintune muffler and modified the air box.  Rejetted the carb.  I am seeing 53 mpg on two tanks of gas.  I did slightly raise the gearing from 15/43 to 16/45.  There are many known issues with the KLR, but there are many sources to learn how to identify and resolve the issues.

I picked mine up for about $3000.  I added about another $1000 in extras.  If I keep the bike I will add the 685 kit this winter and raise the gearing up to 16/43.  Right now I need to make improvements to the rear suspension and seat.

Bike is fun to ride around town and commuting.  Bike is more of a handful on the highway.  High dirt bike style fender catches a lot of air.  Also I need a taller windshield if I used the bike for more highway use.

There are LOTS of accessories for the KLRs.

    Good Luck
