Question:

What duck pond liner will work?

We're building a new 'temporary' duck pond and don't have a huge budget. The plan is to build a earth burm pond next year, so this is just an interim solution. We tried 3 mil plastic, and found out little ducky claws are much sharper than we expected. The question is, there is a 20mil rubber liner availabel from Lowes for only $50, or a much thicker 45mil liner from a company online for more like $70. That is quite a difference in price for this budget, the question is can the 20mil stand up to the duck's sharp little claws okay, or do we need the more robust 45 mil and just hope we find a use for the liner at a later date?

  1. Save your money. Ducks don't need water to swim in.  Use that toward your permanent pond.

  2. Check with a swimming pool co., who may be replacing liners...get one free!
