want to know different types of dyes that can be used to dye basic silk fabric so that comparison can be made and best dye can be found out.

  1. Silk can be dyed with a wide range of different types of dye. Because it is more resistant to damage from high pHs than wool, it can be dyed with fiber reactive dyes just like cotton, using soda ash as an auxiliary for very permanent results,  and yet because it is a protein fiber it can be dyed with acid dyes that will not work on cotton.

    There are many different types of acid dye. The best and most washfast are the Lanaset dyes, which resist fading even when washed in hot water. Most acid dyes can be washed only in cool water, after they've been used to dye fabric. Even food coloring can be used to dye silk, though the results will not be as permanent as with other dyes.
