What economy type does Costa Rica have??

The market in Costa Rica is socialist but several services have a monopoly like telephone (ICE), insurance (INS) and the water and electricity.  

It is not a free market or economy such as Panama.

It is mixed. Mostly a market economy with some socialist protections and a few state sponsored monopolies.

The following link is a bit right leaning, but it will give you a good idea of related factors.  It says that "Costa Rica's economy is 64.8 percent free"... "the world's 49th freest economy."
