  1. You haven't mentioned your age?? My hubby didn't have any schooling or outside training but he has worked with special needs adults for over 20 years now. It is a very demanding job and you have to have allot of patience and understanding and nerves of steel. most days are like working in an insane asylum screaming/ uncontrollable tempers/ acting out. for awhile he worked with the ones that were some that were adults but on a 1 year old level and not able to speak or understand much/ wearing adult diapers that need changing!! these are some serious things to consider before you jump into that kind of career. If you have what it takes and not  all people do-- it can be very rewarding but not much pay for what you have to deal with.biting hitting spitting kicking. You could go to a group home and ask to visit to see what it is like before you even try to get a job. Some homes are higher levels and not as bad but it is something to think about.

    Hope this helps
