  1. most want you to have at least a high school diploma and take some CPR classes

  2. Early Childhood Education diploma

  3. Varies by state I think.

Here in MA you can be an assistant teacher with nothing more than a high school education. This is how everyone starts out. You need to gain experience to get your certification to become a full teacher and being an assistant is the only way to do so. They used to allow you to be a teacher without a college degree (although with a degree you were hired before those without obviously) but they're changing that. They want degrees now.

I'm not sure how it is in your area though. You could apply to some centers and see how it pans out.

  4. It varies from state to state as to the education bakgrounded needed for a job a  position at a child care center. Some require you to have college credit hours in early childhood education. While others will just require a high school diploma. Without a degree in Early Childhood you will not be able to become the lead teacher in the classroom but you will be able to be a assistant. Many prechools are beginning to require that all teachers have some sort of early childhood education before hiring.

  5. I think to be an assistant all you need is a high school diploma and some child care experience.

To be a teacher having   a few years experience helps and and early childhood degree ( 2 year degree) . Although where I worked some of the lead teacher just had years of experience w/out a degree although they were older teachers. To be payed more get a degree.
