2. Suppose there are two forces acting on the air at a given location. Suppose that the pressure gradient causes a force that is directed northwest toward a low. If another equally strong force is directed northeast, what is the direction of the net force on the air?

  1. It depends what altitude you are at. Are you talking about being in the jet stream? If you are in the jet stream you would be a jumbo jet like a 747,777, a fighter jet etc. and it would hinder speed both ways because it would just cause alot of "bumps" or turbulence.
