  1. "with respect to receiving volume" means what?

parameters that have an impact on instrument calibration depend on the instrument type and model

altitude and barometric pressure and elevation (all are the same) don't have much effect on electronic instruments that I'm aware of. At least the type I'm familiar with, like voltmeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes.

Temperature and humidity has an effect on most instruments, and you need to keep them within the limits listed in the manual for the instruments when calibrated.

  2. What is "receiving volume?"  This does not sound like an engineering term.
