What effect might the depreciation of the U.S. dollar relative to the Japanese yen have on imports from, and exports to Japan?

  1. I dont think there would be any strong negative or positive affect at all


  2. Simple. The depreciation of the US dollar will make US good relativly cheaper for Japanese consumers. So, Japanese will import more goods from the US. Conversely, the depreciation of the dollar will make Japanese products more expensive to Americans so Americans will export less goods from Japan which will decrease the level of Japan's exports.

    Imports will Increase for Japan, exports will decrease.
