  1. Most of the land is in the north so ( if ) global warming was happening like some seem to think then the long growing season up north would provide abundant food supplies.

  2. more carbon dioxide trapped...more heat....dry farms...no food....

no animals left to eat either

  3. I find the answers as academic as the question itself.. what is your suggestion.. that the GW has some effect on food chain in your (and many others') view and you want prople to spell out the effects.. they have also nearly responded in your expected lines..

but consider friend, compared to the massive direct disruptions already made by man in the biosphere, what the fall out of pollution could do by GW would be minimal in a relative sense..

we replaced ruling natural cultivars of plants with entries (varieties /hybrids) evolved in the labs - not evolved naturally in the fields.. we thus edged out 000's of acclamatised natural varieties indiscriminately.. many of the natural cultiars are no more available.. perhaps they may be preserved in the germplasm banks but not in the various field conditions to get refined in the natural environs any more..

we over exploited the forests and lost 000's of herbs according to the experts.. the encroachments of forests continue for "development" purpose in all countries.. many rare herbs are said to be not available at all in natural forests (by native doctors)..

the lab entries bred simply for yielding more grain or more starch etc had failed miserably in many cases after a few years of successful cultivation - the green ear disease in pearl millet or RT virus in IR 50 rice for eg - but the breeding for newer vars in labs (rather than evolution in natural process) have not stopped.. now we have GMOs whose future impacts may be equally surprising..

we sprayed all sort of chemicals and destroyed several pests while found that new resistant species developed..

are these not disruptions deliberately created by humans on the fauna and flora already?

GW may add to this line of disruption given that we can not reduce our consumption levels, resulting in more and more energy use and consequent pollution and GW...

  4. The biggest affects of Global Warming are on Microscopic levels,

Whole species of microbes are going extinct ,whilst others are becoming invasive.

This affects the insect populations that follow, and everything else that follows that in the many food chains .

Flora that is interdependent,is also affected and causes many changes .

An increase in parasites is killing bees, which we need to pollinate our crops ,so directly affecting us

Large animals that eat smaller ones ,who eat insects that feed on microbes which are dying out ,also disappear.

But this is academic compared to MAN`S destruction of Animal habitats

  5. More than people will admit. This is a grave situation but the government is trying to hide this from society. It has already started my friend.Bee colonies are dying out in record numbers as we speak.Bees pollinate most plants and without bees plants cant reproduce. With plant species dying off, lots of animals will begin dying off too!

  6. Plants will not have the time needed to adapt to the instability in the weather that global warming causes. The 'myth' that the increased levels of CO2 will make the plants grow bigger and faster, is just that,a myth. So food shortages will be in our future.  The price of a bushel of wheat has doubled in just the last year due to unpredictable weather.

  7. Look at the food chain as one diminishes so does the rest, carry on effect. When one is taken totally out of the food chain what happens? rest will slowly die off, unless alternatives are sourced

  8. global warming has an effect on food chains because it is causing animals to be endangered therefore giving many other animals less food to eat main go hungry for long periods of time

  9. As of Now the effect of global warmings is more on birds and insects if this is going to continue the insects which helps to develope the plants will die so forest level will automatically come down if forest level is reduced then the deers and other things will dont have food if the other livingthings donthave food then the animal eaters in the forest will move to human areas and kill humans so the total living life will be destroyed ultimately.

  10. A better question might be...  "What effect does increased CO2 emissions have on the food chain."

The net effect has to be good...  After all, CO2 is plant food, right?

Not making light of your question...  There no doubt have been naturally recurring cycles of global warming and global cooling..  The cooling cycles, historically, have had a much more negative impact on the "food chain"...
