What effect will interent shopping have on retail store growth for the future?

I think with our country making a swing towards recycling more and pushing the green with the environment it only adds up that stores will shrink as more people shop online to conserve. I am not relating to packaging or bags I am talking about gasoline & transportation.

there are somethings you just won't buy online as far as helping green you are not going to gain much from this, products still need shipped and they are usually shipped in larger vehicles(less gas mileage, more pollutants/ with alot of stop and grow traffic, the overall green savings are not going to be thar significant with online shopping/

the effect will not be much,maybe more items will be in store for most stock market to purchase while shooping on line

many if not all will develop websites so that they don't go out of business (even the mom and pop local stores)
