I am a Caucasian, 45 y.o, Single Gentleman living in Texas.

I weigh a whopping 165 pounds - which is 35 pounds over what I am used to.

What effective exercise routines should I use to maintain my current "good" health?

ONE MAJOR "STIPULATION" is that I am a single B.K. amputee, which fit does cause problems in the heat / cold conditions.

%SWIMMING is a no-go, because all of the facilities are closing for the season.

What 'activity' am I overlooking?

  4. Please forgive my ineptness - but I do not know what all types of exercise you are able to handle.  Are you able to do push ups, sit ups, pull ups.  Are you able to walk w/a prosthetic with any degree of ease or comfort?  Walking is one of the best exercises you can do to help maintain weight control.  Are you eating a balanced diet to help keep in shape?   Try backing off the starches such as potatoes, rice, pasta, cookies, cake, bread, pies, sweet soda's, etc.  Avoid junk food if possible.  Try to avoid Fast Food Restaurants.  Eat lots of boiled or steamed vegetables - plenty of green leafy vegetables.  Meats need to be baked, boiled or broiled - never fried.  That grease can pack the pounds on in a hurry.  Do you have access to a gym with a qualified licensed exercise trainer that could help you design an exercise program to fit your needs?  I wish I could be more helpful to you.  Good luck in your search.
