My little girl is having her shots Friday. I was just wondering if it the same as all the other shots they have gotten before. I know that there is the MMR shot this time. Does it cause any more sickness than the usual ones?

  1. My so was really tired, he normally takes a 1 1/2 to 2 hour nap but the day after he slept for 3h 45 min. without Tylenol. This is the only reaction he had though, he was not any more cranky than with the others. The Doc did tell me that symptoms can occur up to 6 weeks, and he could not be around anyone who has a compromised immune system such as cancer or HIV since they are live viruses.

  2. I used to work at a pediatricians office and I will be honest with you the one year old shots for some children are harder than the privious ones.  It has alot to do with the MMR, it can make their leg sore and they can run fever.  Obviously all of the shots have those same side effects but for some reason it seems to be a little worse, it also burns a little more when it is being administered.  That being said I have seen many children breeze right through it with no problem.  Tylenol about a half an hour before and cool compresses at the site if it is sore will help.

  3. My son (he's 3 now) has never had any reactions to any shots.  He would usually cry during the shot, be right after he never got fever or sick.  I guess it depends on each individual child.  Our doctor always gave us a print out of what to expect and what to do about it; I'm sure your doctor has those so there's nothing you should worry about.  =D
