What effects does sugary water have on plants ? ?

I am doing an experiment and i would like to know if sugar water has any bad or good effects on small plants

  1. Sugary water would cause the plant to loose water due to the osmotic balance. So then the plant would probably wilt...


  2. the plants wil obviosly wilt and finally die..as exosmosis occurs and the cell fluids move out into the sugar solution inorder to maintain fluid-equilibrium(exosmosis)...thus the plant cells shrink and finally die!

  3. The previous answers are good.  However if you inject the plant with sugar water, it might be different.  In that case the plant might get the impression that the shoot is being ultra efficient.  Thus it would shut down shoot growth and greatly increase root growth in order to balance the new increase in sugar with minerals.  

  4. it attracts more bugs
