Me and my partner have been having unprotected intercourse for a year and a half now, and so far... nothing!I am 22 and he is 29 and already has a child. I fear that there could be a problem with myself. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow but just wondered what the likeliehood of a problem could be at my age?

  1. From a gal who could be your mother......and has been through infertility.........First, try not to worry too much (if possible!)....Stress, is a major road block in fertility......Second, if you have been trying for a year unsuccessfully, make sure you go to your gyno, tell him/her that, and make a plan from there. There may be something, and there may not be something physically. In any case, conception in itself, is a miracle! If you research it, you'll soon find out that it truly has to be "perfect" timing.

If you have challenges ahead of you, like Julie Andrews said in the "Sound of Music", "Climb Every Mountain.....", until, "you find your dream". Good Luck!!!

  2. There could be a multitude of reasons why you have not got pregnant by now, but at your age a year is the longest you should wait before going to see a reproductive specialist.

  3. well, being even a few pounds overweight can affect it.  my RE (reproductive endocrinologist) told us that.  also stress.

They say if you're under age 35, you should try for a year before seeing an RE.  If you're OVER 35, you should only try for 6 months before seeing an RE.

Here's the website of my RE.  He's AWESOME!  look around the site.  he's got SOOO much info!

    good luck to you!
