  1. Its made out of synthetic material, and is stronger and more durable than leather.

  2. Spandex is a block copolymer of polyurethane and polyethylene glycol.

specifically, spandex consists of chains of the chemical elements carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen.

  3. Spandex (now called Lycra or Lycra Spandex) was introduced in 1958. Spandex is a synthetic fiber made of at least 85% of the polymer polyurethane. Spandex is made from several chemicals that are known sensitizers. TDI and MDI (Toluene-2,4-diisocyanate C9H6N202; Methylene bisphenyl-4,4-diiisocyanate) are precursors of the polyurethane used to make spandex. TDI, a toxic chemical, has proved carcinogenic and can cause severe dermatitis. MDI is also toxic. Manufacturers of spandex products must use strict quality control procedures to ensure that no residual unreacted MDI or TDI exists in the final product.

These are polymers made up of combinations of:

    Carbon, Nitrogen, Hydrogen, and Oxygen

  4. here this should help you. it  gives you chemical composition and everything else you need to know about it!

Other spandex trademarks include Elaspan (also Invista's), ROICA & Dorlastan (Asahi Kasei) and Linel (Fillattice). (so basically, lycra is spandex)
