my computer is less than a year old.

when we got it, it ran great. but now its slow, and

it crashes and freezes all the time. I ran 2 virus scans last night (McCaffee and Avira) but neither of them found any viruses. i use disk cleanup and defragmenter very frequently, along with emptying the java cache from the control panel. what else could be wrong!

  1. Install CCleaner and remove the trash on your hard disk.

Use only one anti-virus because they take up a lot of resources.

  2. Okay I'm assuming that you know that

    1) you do not delete files but un install programs.

    2) You run registry cleaning programs.

    3) You do understand that having 2 Anti Virus programs on our system will slow it down as each action is scanned by not one but two anti virus scanners. If you want to test this theory, either un install one AV or add another AV. If you uninstall one, you'll see a definite change in performance for the better. If you add another one, you'll probably uninstall it the same day.

    4) "Slow" is a relative term. Your computer would seem slow if you compare it to newer computers (consciously or sub consciously). Run your system in safe mode. If its to your liking, you have way too many programs running on your system fr you. Try disabling the BHOs, add ons in browsers & disable Index service in windows.

  3. Try using a registry cleaner/scanner.Sometimes computer fails because of problems associated with the registry.

  4. too much files r stored in yur pc but yur not using them..

yur not running the disk defrag....

  5. Try installing "ad aware" or similar - they help to detect spyware, adware etc (nasty things that may slow your computer down)

  6. Probably a virus, go get spysweeper for adaware, trojans, ect. You'll need to uninstall mcaffee and avira, but believe me it is much better.

In the future never have 2 virus scanners on your pc, it will cause issues and they may not catch virus's cause of it
