I have 5 wired planters that are not the round shape ones that you always see. I cant find replacement coco liners that fit. I have tried to cut the coco liner but that did not go well. What else can I line them with that is easy to do???

  1. You can get bags of moss from the discounters, craft stores and some home improvement centers.  I have wrought iron window boxes, wire hanging baskets and standing wrought iron planters that are all lined with it.  I usually soak it first in water to separate it and mold it to dry in sheets that will fit the particular container I need to line.  One hint, use a frog or slotted spoon to collect up the little bits and press them into the sheet so there is no waste.  If you use the spanish moss, no need to soak, but it is a lot more expensive than the green moss.  (I usually wait until I have a 40-60% off coupon for JoAnnes or Michaels to buy it).  One other thing that works, is natural burlap.  I only use it for my annual planters, however, weight it down with a few pebbles in the bottom and use it for a season because it will biodegrade faster than the moss.
