I'm making onigiri tomorrow night and so far all I've got is thinly sliced/beaten strips of beef with a suger/soy sauce marinade, and now I need some ideas for different fillings.... Please nothing expensive and no fish (my mom likes it but I don't), and my dad is very picky so nothing to exotic.

  1. Teriyaki chicken, eggs, cucumber, avocado.

  2. veggies, eggs, bbq pork, yakitori (basically grilled chicken)

or if you want it to be sweet, fruits like apples, oranges, cherries, etcetera

  3. I am with the first girl, I use love them when I worked in Tokyo, them along with takoyaki and natto were my favs, I would add sweet beans or bean paste for a sweet version, tuna, even tonkatsu or spinach, umeboshi and I liked the sesame paste ones too.

They are very versatile and can be made with just about anything Asian or western based, even tamago omelet.
