My betta is in a bowl that hold a little less than a gallon and I don't have a filtration system. What else can I put in the tank without with the betta. I don't mind buying a filtration system.

  1. you cant put anything in with betta fish unless it is a betta of the  oposite s*x....they are very aggressive and territorial....and they like small fish bowls...larger tanks make them insecure and unhappy

  2. if you have a boy betta than DONT put anything with it cuz it will kill the other fish. if you have a girl betta than idk what you an put with it. anything i guess as long as there is enough room for them. each fish need at least 1 gallon of water- so ive heard from someone thats a fish expert. betta's are also called siamese fighting fish. hope this helps. good luck! i would ask a professinal at a pet store first before you do anything.

  3. Bettas are very aggresive, so you can only put a female betta in with a male one, or vice-versa.  At least, that's what I know. . .

  4. i Agree with mostly everyone. a betta should not be in such a tiny bowl but if you really want try a cory catfish. they're small and they clean the tank.=) +they get along with bettas

  5. Absolutly nothing.  The betta shouldn't be in a bowl, nothing should be kept in an unheated unfiltered bowl of under 1 gal.  Let alone putting something else in with it.  If you want to keep fish get a proper tank.    If you want to keep other fish with the betta get at least a 10gal tank.  You can get a 10 gal kit with lights and filter for less than the filter alone at walmart.  All you will need to add is substrate and a heater.

As far as what fish can be kept with bettas in a proper tank any peaceful non-nippy fish that does not have long fins is fine.

  6. NOT an angel fish.  growing up i had a beautiful angel fish that lived for over four years.  one day my sister one a betta at a fair, put it in the tank with my angel, and it ate its head off.  true story.

  7. I agree 100% with JC. While breeders (myself included) use 1 gallon "tanks", we also have another way to heat these tanks (heaters would be silly in a 1g bowl or tank), the tanks are bare-bottomed and they're cleaned out every day to every three days, depending on the breeder. There is nothing else you can put into a 1g bowl with a betta fish.

  8. less than a gallon and no filtration..you can put your hand in it and play with him...or if possible a small filter if it fits or a heater if that fits too..or NOTHING...where is the space in that bowl lady???your betta must be pissed off with so less room...where will others fit???gosh..get a 10 gallon tank with filter and heater..upgrade him and then think of some tank mates..

  9. nothing pretty much

  10. Well you can't put any other tropical or regular fish because then they betta is going to eat it. You should put your betta with some other betta fish. Who knows they might even be related (family members).

    Good-Luck!

  11. nothing... your fishy alone really needs atleast a 5 gallon tank with heater and filter, and to havfe tankmates a 10gallon should be used. i dont meen to soound rude but a tiny cold dirty bowl is mean.

  12. The tank is to small to put anything else in with it. But you should put a top on the bowl cuz betas can jump and he might jump out of the bowl and dry up.=(

If anything maybe a ghost shrimp.

Edit: guintarpro, a male and female betta can only be together for mating with is VERY VERY hard to do!!
