Question:

What else can it be if it's not pregnancy? Getting really nervous! Could it be something serious?

I am three weeks late today. I have never been that late in my life. I am 20 years old and my period has been regular for the last 2 years. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it came out negative. I also had a urine test done today at the hospital and it was also negative.

The only thing I have changed is that I started working out. But I had already ovulated almost a week before I started my new exercise routine. I asked the doctor if that could affect my cycle and he told me that it was highly unlikely. I have not been stressing about anything. I didn't even realize I was late until I was almost a week late. I haven't been sick lately either.

I have a few symptoms that could be pregnancy symptoms, like: Having to use the bathroom more frequently, very tender nipples, frequent heartburn, tired all the time, and headaches.

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow but I am really nervous. Has anyone else been this late with negative test results and still been pregnant? Is it possible at all that I am? Or could this be something more serious? Please don't say it's just stress, I know it's not, I really didn't start worrying about this until today. But up until today I have been fine.

please I need your opinions. I'm really nervous that it could be something serious. Has anyone else been in this kind of situation? How did it turn out? Thank you all in advance!

  1. i had overian cysts that gave me the signs of being preg when i was and they found that out by doing an ultrasound.  so it could be that you should tell your doc at the appt.  see if they agree

  2. Relax, I don't think it's anything serious.  It's normal to miss a period every once in a while.  I was always very regular with my periods like you and I missed one one time, but it came the next month.  Our bodies do weird things some time.  It could the new exercise routine - is it more strenuous than you have been doing?  Of course, it's entirely possible that you are pregnant and your hormones aren't high enough yet to be detected on a test.  A blood test at your doctor's office would give you a more reliable result.  Just try and relax, everything will be fine.  Best of luck to you.
