    Brittania first found official "Goddess" status during the reign of the emperor Hadrian. One of the many sources of inspiration for Brittannia was a celtic goddess called Brigid.

I'm pretty sure she was a Roman goddess who represented the British isle. She looked a bit different then and was changed to how she is looks now in the Victorian age.
