I use Spybot; Search and Destroy, and Ad-Aware SE, and AVGFRee for my programs to get rid of unwanted 'varmint' programs.

Malware is one word for everything that can harm/infect your PC, such as viruses, trojans, spyware, rootkits,etc.

Zone Alarm is a firewall with  spyware, if you have Zone Alarm pro, but with limited capabilities.

Download SpywareBlaster, run it to block every possible harmful sites out there.
