I have a 1999 Ford F-150 it has a V-6 4.2L engine. My service engine soon light came on, I pulled my code, it was EGR flow insufficent. I cleaned the EGR valve, put it back together, a little while later kicked my service engine soon light back on, so I have now replaced the EGR valve, 24 hours later my service engine soon light is back on again. What else could be causing this to to make it come back on? And yes it keeps coming back on because of the EGR flow insufficent. Same code everytime.

  1. You could try replacing the egr valve...and make sure the tube that the egr valve is mounted to...isn't clogged.

You can also check..or replace the egr sensor.

I have the same issue with my 2000 ranger...and it still isn't right yet.

  2. Did you replace the vacum hoses. the little black rubber ones?

  3. Did you make sure the ports under the egr valve were clear when you had it off? Or check the egr solenoid, they are known to go bad.
