  1. Bellagio which is on Lake Como and Cinque Terre.  I count hiking the trails of Cinque Terre as one of the great pleasures of my life.

  2. Pompeii and the cameo factory and the Blue grotto (awesome), Sicily and Malta (volcanoes)

  3. You covered a lot of ground, but there are lots of other things to see and do in Italy. I'd recommend Cinque Terre http://www.cinqueterre.it/en/index.asp. From there, you could go on to San Gimignano http://www.sangimignano.com/sghome.htm and Siena http://www.comune.siena.it/ilturista/?la... and spend some time in the Cianti wine country.

Another alternative would be Verona http://www.tourism.verona.it/_vti_g2_1.a... Mantova, Lago di Garda, Trento http://www.apt.trento.it/English/ENG_Hom... and Bolzano http://www.bolzano.net/english/index.htm... in the north. If you're coming in September and you're in the Verona/Vicenza area, you could go to Marostica for their big festival. http://www.marosticascacchi.it/a_2_EN_9_...

Or you could check out the festival schedule and plan your travel around the events that go on around the year here. Are you planning an Octoer trip again?

  4. Cinque Terre - oh so beautiful!  Bologna and Siena are also places to consider.  Look into what month you are going - there may be a festival somewhere.  One I found hysterical and fun was carnival in February in Viareggio.
