To me, I sense elitism, hate, vengeance, immaturity, phoniness.

And this is why I think a lot of people think of him this way!

I think he was making a symbolic gesture of brushing things off.

I find it hard to judge any character in a campaign, the whole thing is like a circus show opposed to serious politics. I hate drama and PR in politics now, it all comes across as phony, making the candidates more difficult to judge fairly based on merit opposed to flashing lights, phony gestures and jeering crowds wearing silly t-shirts. Oh and of course the media drama.

I agree... While watching the Dem. convention I was completely floored by the people in the audience with their hands raised high with tears in their eyes. It's almost has if they worshiped him.... May be the are the same ones that didn't see through your picture!

His phoniness is based on his strategy of doing and saying whatever the audience wants to hear.  He plays to the audience to the point he's just an empty suit.

I remember the clip.  It had something to do with Hillary's camp saying he had a chip on his shoulder or something like that.  The clip is his actual response.
