What end of the cigar do I put in my mouth?

I know it might sound a little dumb, but I cannot figure this out as I am very new to cigars. I have a White Owl from the gas station (yes, I know they are terrible) and one end is open. The other has a hole in it. What is each end called and must I cut one of them before I smoke it? Really, I am just confused as to whether or not I even have to cut it or if White Owls come precut. I didn't know you put a cut end of the cigar into your mouth- true or false? I have tried many sites and almost none answer my questions.

You can smoke the end with the hole in it - however, most people prefer to cut this end off with a cutter for easier and smoother inhalation.

Yes, you put the freshly cut end of a cigar in your mouth. The sharper the cutter the less tobacco bits you end up with on your tongue.

Cigars often don't come pre-cut as they can get damaged/frayed during transit etc. Frayed cigars fall apart and make a mess in your mouth, so always cut just before smoking.
