  1. Learn how to spell.  Speices is species, speinds is spends, olny is only and Aransas is Arkansas.  Your spelling is endangered!

  2. the "speinds olny"

    very rare

  3. yes

  4. Well, if they are only there during the winter then I would assume that you are talking about birds. There are 10 wildlife refuges in Arkansas (http://www.fws.gov/refuges/profiles/BySt... & a few of them were established to protect birds.

More than 1/2 of the wildlife refuges were established to protect birds: Bald k**b National Wildlife Refuge, Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Cache River National Wildlife Refuge, Overflow National Wildlife Refuge, Pond Creek Refuge, Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge, and White River National Wildlife Refuge.

  5. a woodpecker

  6. Whooping Cranes

  7. The article cited below says:

" While the sandhill crane is a fairly common sight this time of year, the same cannot be said for the endangered whooping crane. Just 183 of the whoopers were counted in the wild this winter. King said two or three of the birds are usually seen each year in the Grand Island area.

So far this year there have been two confirmed sightings of whoopers.

Whooping cranes spend winters in the Arkansas Wildlife Refuge in Texas and then migrate to Central Nebraska beginning in early April. The birds then continue north to Canada, where they spend the summer."

Note:  the ivory-billed woodpecker is said to have been seen there, but it wouldn't be a winter-only visitor.
