A 420 cc 16 hp, 4 stroke at 3600 rpm and 28.5 n.m.

A 250 cc 17 hp, 4 stroke at 7500 rpm and 17.6 n.m.

I don't know what some of these numbers mean so plz help.

PS: It is for a GO Kart, I am going to put it on a go kart w/ a broken engine, also should the engine be a side shaft engine?

  1. I'll bet the 420cc engine weighs 60% more than the 250cc. Unless it's a buggy type kart, go with the 250.

  2. The 420cc engine will last longer. It has a larger displacement and turns way less rpm's. Sure you will get more speed from the 250cc but engine life will be less.

And, yes you will need one with a side shaft.
