  1. Each team builds their own engines. Although they are custom built for each car, and sometimes each driver.

All engines are push rod style valve trains as required by the rule book.

As far as the RWHP and torque questions, I would check NASCAR.com. They may have the listing there. 0-60 is pretty dam quick. If the manufacturers of BMW are spoutiong about their car 0-60 in 6.5 secs, and that car is the same weight but half the base HP, I would venture that 0-60 in a Cup car is about 3 secs.

  2. They are all pushrod V8's, 358 cubic inches. Each of the four manufacturers have their own engine.

  3. each manufacturer has a different engine. they are all pushrod engines. chevy, ford, and dodge all use a motor based on a production block design. toyota never made a pushrod V-8 so they were allowed to design a motor just for racing. as far as pontiac, they haven't raced in quite a while.

  4. They are all 2v pushrod based engines limited to 358 cubic inches.  They used to all be close to the 1960's smallblocks of their manufactures,  but now they are a clean sheet.  They make about 800-850 bhp using all motor, no power adders such  as blowers, turbos, nitrous.   The cars use very similar bodys but the engines are still unique to there manufacturer.  Even toyota uses a pushrod motor as per rulebook.

There performance is very impressive but varies greatly on gearing for the track, they are capable of 230+mph but are limited to around 200 for safety.  They still achive 200mph with a restricter plate under the carborator that limits the engine to 450hp or so.  They are very high tech old style race cars.  NASCAR is very popular due to the compitition level and the ability it takes to drive a bigger, heavier car.
